Fabio Baldato said enough and it leaves me a little sad ... he's always been an idol of mine ... The fall last Sunday's Tour all'Eneco put an end to an extraordinary career that began in 1991.
fractures to the pelvis and left clavicle remedied Sunday are too serious to think about 40 years to be able to return and start again. So the "Baldo" decided to drop out early the season (which would end in the Paris-Tours) and his career.
Baldato was a great interpreter of the great classics of the North that gave him much satisfaction, but also denied the joy of a victory. Remain in the history of his placings in the Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders. A runner like few others, capable of being always first in line for himself but also for others, born sprinter (replacing Cipollini at the Giro) and then turning on the hunter classic pavé.
A runner ... but above all a serious and capable, after a career full of success (42 wins), to accept engagements that important, but certainly not guaranteed the opportunity to continue to run. Then the adventure with the Lampre , with again, 40 years, a special Paris-Roubaix this year.
A lesson for many young people entering the hour cycling or for those that already exist and have a vision "distorted" the trade .... Thanks
"Baldo" ... now you can enjoy some quiet ride on your packages without the thought of hell of the North!
